Kid Fit- Port Bickerton & Ecum Secum

Kid Fit
Kid Fit will be beginning in February. Kid Fit is an afterschool program that takes place in community centres from bus drop-off to 5:00 p.m. Registered children with a bus note are able to get off the bus at their local community centre to participate in the program. The program is offered to children in grades primary to grade 6 and is physical activity based and will have kids moving. Kid Fit will take place in Port Bickerton and Ecum Secum on Monday’s starting February 3rd and Tuesday’s in Sherbrooke starting February 4th. Kid Fit - Port Bickerton

Our indoor KidFit program is returning for students in grades Primary to 5. This is a free program that focuses on physical activity with a bit of mind strategy activities --followed by a healthy snack. Busses will drop children off after school, with pick up by a parent or guardian at 4:30pm.

Public Meeting for Proposed Cochrane Hill Gold Mine Site

The Municipality of the District of St. Mary’s invites all residents and landowners to attend one of two public meetings regarding the proposed Cochrane Hill gold mine site.
The meetings will be held at the Lion’s Hall in Sherbrooke.

Open Gym

Open Gym is a free play program that allows all school aged children to be the masters of play! Children are invited to attend this weekly program in the new gym at SMECA and choose their own equipment and activity. Equipment will be provided, but must be respected and cleaned up at the end of the program.
Open Gym will take place Tuesday’s from 6-7pm. Come out and enjoy different sports and gym equipment.

Sweethearts Ball

The PTA will be hosting a "Sweethearts Ball"-a family dance with kid friendly music. This event will also include various stations- (lego, playdough, coloring, etc.), concessions, photo booth, etc. Although not essential, attendees are welcome to dress-up formally/semi-formally.

Gentle Yoga is a slow gentle class the starts by toning the muscles and warming the joints of the body. Then we go through a gentle version of traditional yoga practice with emphases on flexibility, strength and stress relief.

Make it Take it Craft Program at the Recplex

This is a free program. Parents are invited to come out and watch some hockey while children make crafts in the warm room!

Free Skate

Free skates are back at the St. Mary’s Recplex!
Skates will take place each Wednesdays 6:00-7:00pm and Saturdays from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00pm. Skates are free for all, all season long.
There are limited amount of helmets and skates available for use free of charge. All skaters must wear helmets on the ice, no exceptions. Free Skates are made possible through financial support from the Province of Nova Scotia Facility Access Grant.
