The Municipality of the District of St. Mary’s is proud to support the St. Mary’s Trail Association and congratulates its members on the opening of a new 3 km section of the Trans Canada Trail in Newtown!

This achievement is a testament to the dedication, hard work, and community spirit of the volunteers who helped bring this project to life, with support from government agencies, local businesses, and community donations. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this trail a reality and expanding outdoor recreation opportunities in our community.

The new section follows the former Guysborough Railway from the Sons of Martha Monument to the Pictou County line and offers residents and visitors an opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty of the St. Mary’s River Valley.

We encourage everyone to get out, explore the trail, and enjoy all that our beautiful community has to offer.
