Recreation is the experience that results from freely-chosen participation in physical, social, intellectual, creative and spiritual pursuits that enhance individual and community wellbeing. It has been proven that recreation can help to reduce obesity, diabetes, anti-social behaviour, social isolation and negative impacts on the environment. There is also evidence that recreation positively impacts tourism, helps to attract business, enriches neighbourhoods, and encourages environmental protection. The Municipality of the District of St. Mary's has a long history of engaging residents in meaningful recreation experiences. It is our goal to provide programs and services that help to improve the overall wellbeing of residents of all ages and abilities.
