Sherbrooke Water and Sewer Utilities are operated and maintained for the citizens / businesses of Sherbrooke. The mandate of the Sherbrooke Water Utility is to supply potable water to the residents of Sherbrooke in a cost effective and efficient manner. The quality is monitored so that it meets the Nova Scotia Department of Environment and Labour and Canadian Drinking Water Guideline standards. The utility also supplies system support for the customer.

The Sherbrooke Water Utility does not generate a profit and does not have private shareholders; it is managed by municipal Council. Costs are driven by expanding regulations, aging infrastructure as well as operations and maintenance costs. Sewer Utility customers are billed a sewer maintenance rate on their annual property tax bill.
