Municipal Awareness Week: November 5th – 11th
Ever wonder what the different departments at the Municipal Office were for?
Each day this week we will provide a bit of key information on each area and how these groups support you.
Structure of a Municipality:
Council:
The elected governing body who set priorities, set budgets and works to ensure that the public’s wishes are carried out.
Administrative & Finance:
Financial reporting and coordination of audits, grant applications to obtain local project funding, providing building permits and support for builders, training and support of staff.
Economic Development:
Responsible for housing needs, maintaining green spaces, making the municipality as emission-free as possible, increasing employment opportunities, and enhancing the overall quality of life.
Community Development and Recreation:
Responsible for programs and activities to keep the community in good health, occasions to explore nature and exercise.
Public Works:
Responsible for utilities such as drinking water and wastewater, maintenance of all Municipal equipment, managing the Recplex and maintaining the ice at the rink
