The Guysborough Community Health Board is looking for Volunteer Members. The Board is dangerously close to not having enough members to operate. This would be a great loss of community voice. The Volunteer commitment is 8 meetings a year between September and June.  The members have a choice of joining in person or on zoom. Members can be anywhere from High School students in grade 10 and up to seniors.   The Board covers all expenses like travel and childcare for the volunteers to attend meetings.   We work with the community (mostly community groups and organizations). On priority area such as Food Security, Poverty, Social Inclusion and  Early Childhood Development.

A period of very cold wind chills is expected for Guysborough County.
An arctic airmass will combine with strong northwest winds to give bitterly cold conditions by tonight. Windchill values of minus 35 to minus 43 are expected to develop late night and will persist into Saturday morning before beginning to moderate Saturday afternoon as temperatures warm up.
Watch for cold related symptoms: shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, numbness and colour change in fingers and toes.
Cover up. Frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill.
Extreme cold warnings are issued when very cold temperatures or wind chill creates an elevated risk to health such as frost bite and hypothermia.
