The Home Energy Assistance Top-Up (Heat) Fund
The Home Energy Assistance Top-Up (HEAT) Fund supports Nova Scotians in need with the added
cost of home heating during the winter months. In 2020, the Fund provided assistance for more
than 3,500 households in Nova Scotia. The Fund is proudly administered by The Salvation Army.
You may apply if:
$29,000 for one-person households;
$47,703 for two to four person households;
$67,937 for households with five or more individuals
- You live in Nova Scotia and are within the following income threshold:
- Your household is experiencing an emergency heating situation
The HEAT Fund offers a maximum assistance in the amount of $400 for individuals and families.

ECRL Proof of Vaccination Update
The Province of Nova Scotia has designated public libraries as essential services.
This means that when the Proof of Full Vaccination Policy comes into effect on October 4th, proof of vaccination will NOT be required to enter our libraries.
All Nova Scotia Health measures and protocols will apply. The library will continue to adjust our services in accordance with public health measures.
You will still need Proof of Vaccination to participate in many other activities that bring people together starting October 4th. You can print yours at the library free of charge.

2021 Bluenose 100 - Sail Past Season Schedule
The Bluenose will be visiting the Municipality of St. Mary’s on September 15 in Port Hilford and September 16th in Ecum Secum!
Arrival time in each port is typically between 4-6pm and departure is typically between 8-9am, although it is dependent on conditions and special events.

Sherbrooke Streetscapes Plan Update
SHERBOOKE STREETSCAPES PLAN UPDATE
In 2018 the Municipality of the District of St. Mary’s made the commitment to enhance the downtown core of the Municipality through developing the Sherbrooke Streetscapes Plan. Since its completion, the Municipality has developed a phased approach to providing and completing these improvements. Phase 2 is now complete and included the softscape installation within the parking lot and Pioneer Park’s pathway including, soil, mulch, shrubs, and flowers.
Municipal Council and staff will continue to explore opportunities to implement additional phases of the Streetscape Plan to develop the downtown core into a more accessible, active and lively area by rethinking spaces and offering new activities that will improve the experience for residents and tourists.
