On October 22, the Municipality of the District of St. Mary’s had the pleasure of hosting our Community Heroes Appreciation Event at Liscombe Lodge.

The evening was an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the individuals who go above and beyond to make a positive difference in our community. Through their generosity, dedication and contributions, these individuals help make St. Mary’s a stronger, more connected place to live.

We are proud to celebrate the people who give so much of themselves to our community and are grateful for all they do. This year, we were privileged to extend our deepest thanks to our healthcare professionals, community volunteers, and first responders, including the following individuals who were recognized for their outstanding service:

  • Makayla Fleet, Susan Fleet, & Sophia Fleet – Outstanding Service, Ecum Secum Volunteer Fire Department
  • Sharon Tibbo – Outstanding Service, Liscomb Volunteer Fire Department
  • Farlie Carroll, Laura Banks, & Herbie Scott – Outstanding Service, Sherbrooke Volunteer Fire Department
  • Sean Ashe – 10 Years of Service, Sherbrooke Volunteer Fire Department
  • Devin Kaiser & Cody Jordan – Valour, Goshen Volunteer Fire Department
  • Jody MacDonald – Outstanding Service, RCMP
  • Therese Hodgkinson – Outstanding Service, Ground Search and Rescue
  • Ethel MacDonald – Leadership Award, Guysborough County Home Support Agency
  • Tammie Vautour – Municipal Volunteer of the Year

To everyone honored, and to the many others who quietly contribute their time behind the scenes, you are the heartbeat of our municipality. Thank you for your selflessness, and congratulations on this well-deserved recognition!
