This year’s theme: “Charge into Fire Safety: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home.”

In many home fires, you may have as little as 2 minutes to safely escape from the time the smoke alarm sounds. A well-practiced escape plan can make all the difference.

Fire Safety Tips:

  • Install smoke alarms on every level of your home, inside bedrooms, and outside sleeping areas.
  • Test alarms monthly and replace batteries twice a year.
  • Plan two ways out of every room, and ensure exits are clear.
  • Practice your home fire escape plan with the whole family—especially children and seniors.
  • Teach children how to respond if they hear a smoke alarm.

Our local volunteer fire departments work hard year-round to keep our communities safe. Let’s do our part by being prepared and aware.
