The Municipality of the District of St. Mary’s is participating in Emergency Preparedness Week (May 4-10) in collaboration with the Department of Emergency Management.

What is Alert Ready?

Alert Ready is a nationwide system that issues alerts in situations where there is an immediate threat to life or property. These alerts can include, but are not limited to:

  • Natural disasters (e.g., tornadoes, floods, wildfires)
  • Biological threats
  • Hazardous materials incidents
  • Amber Alerts
  • Civil emergencies

How it works:

Alerts are issued by authorized government agencies (e.g., Environment and Climate Change Canada, provincial emergency management organizations) and are broadcast through multiple channels to ensure the widest possible reach. On mobile devices, alerts are accompanied by a unique sound and vibration to draw immediate attention.

Why this matters to us:

Understanding how Alert Ready works is important for both workplace and personal safety. In the event that you receive an alert during working hours, please follow any instructions provided and alert your manager or supervisor if needed.
