Heritage Day - February 20th, 2023
Monday, February 20th is Heritage Day!
Nova Scotia Heritage Day is an annual reminder of our storied past and an opportunity to honour the remarkable people, places and events that have contributed to this province’s unique heritage. This year Elder Rita (Bernard) Joe is being celebrated. Elder Rita (Bernard) Joe, a member of the We’koqma’q Mi’kmaq Community and published author, was instrumental in paving the way for other Mi’kmaq authors. Her greatest wish was to see more writings would come from her people and “that the children would read it”.
