Extreme Heat Advisory

In order to protect yourself from the health effects of extreme heat, the Government of Canada recommends to:
- Prepare for the heat
- Pay close attention to how you, and those around you, feel
- Stay hydrated
- Stay cool
- Avoid exposure to extreme heat when outdoors

- Watch for signs of heatstroke.

Seeds of Literacy Pop-Up Visits
There will be a Seeds of Literacy Pop-Up program in each community in August. Families and youth are invited to stop by for some information on the program and to borrow a book! The program will officially launch on World Literacy Day on September 8th and will visit each community once a month on a rotating basis. This Saturday we will be visiting the Greenfield Oldsters Club from 9-11am. Come on our to learn more about this program and to borrow some books! Summer Walking Challenge Update
Thank you to all that have registered and participated so far in our St. Mary's Summer Walking Challenge. Out of all participants that tracked and submitted week 3 of the challenge, we used a random name generator to pick a weekly winner.

Seniors Care Grant
Seniors and Long-Term Care just announced the expansion of the Seniors Care Grant to include more services, and a one-time $250 emergency grant for heating costs. The program will re-open to applications September 1. For more information visit: https://novascotia.ca/news/release/?id=20220728003
