With the lifting of water restrictions, for residents’ convenience, shower facilities will continue to be available.

Shower facilities will be available at the RecPlex daily from 3:00pm to 9:00pm until Thursday, November 6.

Starting Monday November 10, shower facilities will be available at the St. Mary’s Education Centre/Academy Community Wing Fitness Centre (121 Old Road Hill, Sherbrooke). They will be open weekly, Monday to Friday from 3:00pm to 9:00pm (during fitness centre hours). Two showers are available for use. Residents must bring their own shower amenities, such as a towel, shampoo, soap, etc.

To use the shower facilities starting November 10, residents will need to register, pay a $20 deposit, and obtain a key fob. The deposit will be returned once you return your fob. Please keep showers to a reasonable time so everyone has a chance to use them, and to help conserve water. Please be respectful of others, leave the space clean, and remember that minors must have an adult present.

The District of the Municipality of St. Mary’s Public Works is the backbone to the municipal infrastructure, they are committed to maintaining the municipal water and wastewater systems to ensure safe, reliable service for residents and businesses.

Public works is also responsible for maintaining municipal buildings, parks, trails and community spaces that support recreation, safety, and public engagement.

Overseeing the St. Mary’s Transfer Station, where waste and recyclables are properly handled, sorted, and directed for disposal or recycling.

Public Works cares and operates St. Mary’s Recplex, supporting the community’s recreation hub by making and maintaining the ice surface, operating the Zamboni, performing skate sharpening, and managing seasonal ice removal and installation.

Rural N.S. community bracing for potential winter drought

Many people living in the Municipality of the District of St. Mary's on Nova Scotia’s Eastern Shore are travelling great distances to refill their dry wells. They worry about what may happen if the drought continues into the winter months. Giuliana Grillo reports.
