Community members and organizations take note, the Municipality will be extending the deadline for the June newsletter to May 22nd. This is due to the month having 5 Wednesday's. This change is for June's newsletter only. All submissions will be due by 4pm on May 22nd.

We want to know how you experience St. Mary’s. Show us by participating in our photo contest. Do you spend your time outside or in facilities? Do you experience recreation at home in your backyard or in a program? What are your favourite activities? Do you experience St. Mary's through your work? Lobster fishing, farming or walking along the streets of Sherbrooke Village? We want to see St. Mary's through your eyes! Share photos of you, your family and friends taking part in activities in the municipality. To take part, enter your photos on our easy to use app from May 1-15 and vote for your favourite photos from May 16-30. Winners will be announced on May 31 and will have their photos displayed in the lobby of the Municipal Building and will take home a great local prize. Participate in our Photo Contest!

How can we work together to be happier, healthier and more fulfilled in all areas of our lives? We think these are questions worth asking. Check your mailbox for an opportunity to participate in the Nova Scotia Quality of Life Survey. This is a first-of-its-kind survey for Nova Scotia. By filling it out, you will help ensure a unique Quality of Life Report is created for every region across the province! The results will then serve as the foundation for innovative approaches to priority-setting and planning at a local level for years to come. By completing the survey you will have the opportunity to enter for a chance to win 1 of 25 Sobeys gift cards (value $400 each!) This initiative is being led by Engage Nova Scotia with the support of Nova Scotia Community College and a Local Leadership Team for the province. Spring is finally here in Nova Scotia, and with it warmer weather and more time outside. Tick populations are growing Nova Scotia. It is important to protect yourself and your family from ticks while enjoying the outdoors.

Ticks live in or near woods, shrubs and long grass. They are very small, which makes them hard to spot, and their bites are painless.

In addition to precautionary measures to avoid contact with ticks – wearing socks and closed-toed shoes, for example – we’re also encouraging Nova Scotians to make tick-checks part of their daily routine. Tick checks help prevent tick-borne diseases like Lyme disease.
