On Monday, August 14th, during a meeting of Council, close family of the late Deputy Warden Dort were invited to attend a small ceremony dedicated to remembering and honoring Deputy Warden Dort and her 19 years of service to the Municipality of St. Mary's.

After a moment of silence and reading of condolences from neighboring municipalities, her family was presented with a plaque to recognize her 19 years of service as well as a bursary called the "Deputy Warden Dort Bursary". This $200 bursary will be given out once a year for the next 19 years to a graduating student of District 6. In her honor, the successful recipient must exemplify qualities of volunteerism, community involvement, and leadership.

Council and staff will greatly miss Deputy Warden Dort’s contributions and thank her family for the ongoing support they gave her during her term as Councillor and Deputy Warden for St. Mary’s Municipality.
